Teacher Concerns with Choice
True school choice often invokes fear from teachers who imagine a race to the bottom when it comes to adequate compensation. This is understandable. However, I don’t believe it has to be that way, once the system admits its own failings in how it is currently structured, and welcomes reform in a spirit of seeking what is truly best for our children.
This is a complex issue and I intend on offering more thoughts concerning this ASAP, after I finish several other sections of this website. Please check back, and do feel free to leave your own comments regarding this. I don’t have all the answers to this conundrum and always welcome
informed and reasoned input from others. I especially welcome this from other teachers who, while they have personal skin in this game, also aren’t just marching in lock-step with WEAC.
